About the Business
HDM processes natural materials and therefore feels responsible for the conservation and good management of the environment. Waste that is generated during the production process is used to generate new energy. Other waste is collected and recycled. Pollution of the air is minimized by the use of modern filtering methods during manufacturing. The emission of formaldehyde in all core materials meets the E1 standard. The emission is so low that they carry the German environmental label "Der blaue Engel" (The blue angel).
The HDM wall and ceiling panels carry the PEFC label. The PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) label guarantees that only PEFC certified wood is used for the manufacture of HDM panels. In March 2011 5,620 m2 of solar panels were installed on the roof of the warehouses in Peer, Belgium, an investment of more than 2 million Euro. They provide enough energy for 200 households.
